Most software today assumes your data belongs somewhere else — on a server you don't control, tied to an account you can't close, held by a company that can be breached, acquired, or shut down without your say. We started Aveneg Technologies, LLC to build the opposite: software that keeps sensitive, valuable records exactly where their owner put them, and nowhere else.
Philosophy
A record of something valuable — a collection, its provenance, its appraisals — is worth protecting like the thing itself. Keeping that record in the cloud multiplies the ways it can be exposed: a provider's breach, a subpoena served on a company instead of a person, a service that quietly shuts down and takes years of entries with it. Offline software removes those risks by removing the server. There is no account to compromise and no copy sitting anywhere but the owner's own computer.
Encryption is the other half of it. Every application we build encrypts its data at rest by default, with a key only its owner holds. We can't read it, recover it, or hand it to anyone who asks — because we never have it in the first place.
What we publish
An encrypted, offline desktop application for cataloguing a watch collection — appraisals, service history, provenance and succession, held entirely on the owner's own computer. The same architecture — private, encrypted, offline by design — is built to serve other collector communities the same way, as they come.
